


Coach Carroll Vaughan , Head Coach
Coach Carroll started the Riptides water polo program in 1999.
She coached Coral Reef High School's girls water polo team for several
years.
She is now coaching Gulliver's boys and girls water polo teams.
She coaches the men's FIU team who just finished their 2006 season 15-1
losing only to Michigan State (the national champions) . FIU finished 5th
nationally.
Coach Carroll won the Women's Development Coach of the Year for the SE
Zone 2006, for the third year in a row !
Coach Carrol has been named Head Coach for the girls Cadet Team in
the SE zone for 2004,2005, 2006 and 2007.
Accomplishments:
Sunshine State games 16-U and Open women both 1st place/ open men
3rd place and 18-U boys 4th place
Riptides girls 16-U team just finished with the highest finish ever from our
zone, a 9th place finish at the JO's in the summer of 2007.
Chris Arias, Assistant head coach:
He has been with the Riptides since 2002. He is also the head coach for
Columbus Sr. High water polo team and in 2006 he was named Dade
County high school boys "coach of the year" He is a very accomplished
player with many recognitions, He was 1st team All Dade in his Sr. Year, 5th
team All American and MVP for his high school in his Sr. Year. He made the
South East Zone team 2 years in a row. He started the FIU water polo team
in his sophomore year. In 2004 he made first team SE conference, in 2005
He was MVP and made 3rd team All American and made the All tournament
team at the Nationals. In 2006 he was named South East conference MVP
and led his team to a 5th place finish at the nationals.
Chase Vaughan
Chase has been a volunteer swim coach for the Riptides for 4 years
helping out with the younger kids at practice and swim meets. He has now
been an assistant coach for 2 years as well as a lifeguard and water safety
instructer. He graduated from Miami Palmetto Sr high where he played
water polo and swam for all 4 years. As a junior and senior he made the
Heralds 2nd Team All Dade team and won the Greater Miami Athletic
Conference Championship as a senior. He is now in his 2nd year at FIU
where he is also a starter for the water polo team, they finished last season
as the South East conference champions and went on to finish 5th at the
Nationals.
